Cornelius Godfrey is driven by a passionate commitment to service and deep love for people. Both attributes fuel his work, that is continually focused on pursuing equity and maximizing impact.

His journey of nearly 20 years started with non-profit work, mentoring boys from under-resourced communities. From there, Cornelius moved into the classroom as a Special Education teacher for students with severe emotional and behavioral impairments.

During this time, Mr. Godfrey developed an eye for identifying organizational inequities and a voice for community advocacy. These culminated in the co-founding of ACA (Affirm, Celebrate, Advocate) a community organization that centers the concerns of students and families of color.

In his never-ending quest to maximize impact, Cornelius took on the role of Equity Officer for a local school district serving 22 schools, 13,000 students and countless family and community members. In his current county level role, Cornelius provides DEI consultative and leadership support for the Intermediate School District that encompasses 28 districts, 22 public academies and a host of non-public school.
